Muzium Adat

Kuala Klawang · Jelebu

The first customs museum in the country, opened in 2008 and built five storeys up with a giant tengkolok sculpture over the entrance. Four galleries covering adat across Malaysia, but the reason to come is the adat perpatih section. Negeri Sembilan calls itself Tanah Beradat, and adat perpatih is the system the Minangkabau brought over from Sumatra, in which lineage and land pass down through the women rather than the men. There are replicas of Batu Batikam and Batu Baling, and an exhibit on the Lembaga Tiang Balai, the eight clan elders of Luak Jelebu. If you have already been through Naning in Melaka, this is the same system explained properly.
